About Animations, yet again

Animation’s new studio album Reset Your Soul is out in the wild since yesterday and it is the only thing I’m listening to right now! The review should follow up soon, but before that I just wanted to let you all know that the complete album is still available on band’s MySpace profile.

Go ahead, make your own mind before I’ll write what I think about this release and why I absolutely love it!

Animations to strike again

Well, after sometime waiting, Animations‘ second studio album Reset Your Soul–one of the releases I’ve been really looking for this year–is due early December. Just can’t wait! Although, it’s sad to see that no label showed enough interest in this amazing band to make a final deal with them. Yeap, it’s gonna be yet another self-released CD from Animations, but weep not cause I’m damn sure it’s gonna make a wonderful Christmas gift… from myself to myself.

Animated radio

Animations - Reset your SoulYesterday evening Kuba Dębski and Paweł Larysz from Animations were guests at Mały Leksykon Wielkich Zespołów (A Small Lexicon of Great Bands) show at Radio Alfa Kraków where they featured three complete songs from their upcoming album Reset Your Soul. Show’s setlist is available here and a complete recording here (dated 23.09.2009) and although the discussion was completely in Polish you will easily recognize Animations’ dynamic style when  Toxicyber, The Manhattan Project and Reset Your Soul were played.

The album is ready (recordings, artwork) and as soon as guys will finish contract talks it will be shipped out. Oh, and if you didn’t know already the band’s got a new, and hopefully permanent, vocalist.

Dream Theater’s Rite of Passage

In yesterday Dream Theater’s newsletter Mark gave a very late notice that RoadRunner made available “A Rite of Passage” for download on May 6th only. “A Rite of Passage” is track #2 on Dream Theater’s upcoming Black Clouds & Silver Linings album (due Jun 23rd). I think I was one of the last persons that managed to grab the mp3 download before it disappeared, though the song should be available as a stream on RoadRunner site (and here it is on YouTube).

All I can say is if the whole Black Clouds & Silver Linings will be as much disappointing as “A Rite of Passage” is I’m not going to like this album. I’m wondering what’s more disappointing here, James LaBrie’s vocals, or maybe John Petrucci’s loosely Spastic Ink inspired solo, or maybe Jordan Rudes‘ lousy broken-synth effect?

I was going to buy a Deluxe Collector’s Edition Box Set but after listening to this I think I’ll go for a Standard Edition. I’m afraid it’s going to be another Octavarium, where out of all eight tracks I can only bear two.

Transatlantic flies again - yeah!

Well, according to InsideOut prog super-band Transatlantic begun work on their new, third, studio album. If all is good the album should see the daylight before the year ends. Say what you want, but I do like Transatlantic and I’m waiting impatiently for their new release.

Progressive Nation 2009

Well, well, well. Now would you now, Progressive Nation 2009 Europe features far better bands than the North American one. These are:

I’ve already mentioned Unexpect here and I’m really looking forward to seeing them live. Dream Theater and Opeth are the kind of bands that need no further introduction. As for the Bigelf, I’ve heard their recording some time ago and I think it’ll be interesting to see them perform live as well.

Man, I haven’t been so much excited about a gig for years. Łuczniczka Hall in Bydgoszcz, Poland is where I’ll be on September 30th.

Riverside’s new album finished

This is rather old news (a week old news are old these days), but Riverside had posted an interesting piece of information on a website dedicated to their upcoming album. It seems there is a chance they’ll finally release an album I’m going to like. Read on.

A sneak peek at Terminal’s debut release

Back in January I’ve mentioned Terminal’s upcoming debut album featuring Virgil Donati. Although the CD has not been release so far, band’s MySpace profile now contains two songs from the soon-to-be-released album: The Maze and Mind Destruction. Even though that’s not exactly on spot with my musical tastes, I’m still looking forward to hearing the CD itself.

DT begun work on their 10th album

Dream Theater LogoWell, it’s nice to read that Dream Theater had begun work on their–so far untitled–10th studio album. What’s more interesting is the planned release date of “early summer” and a promise of a world tour. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for DT visiting Poland again.

Marillion touring Poland

Marillion in Krakow

Marillion, one of the most renown British prog bands, hit Poland with their Happiness Is the Road Tour 2009. Yesterday (February 9th) they played at Hala Wisły in Cracow, today they’re going to visit Warsaw performing at Stodoła club and tomorrow it’s Centrum Stocznia Gdańska in Gdańsk. Although I’m forced to miss their Warsaw gig–that’s were I live currently–it’d sure be nice to see some photos. In the mean time here are couple of pictures taken at yesterday’s Cracow gig.

Update: Here you can find Warsaw gig photos.
